I'm looking to start d4 for the first time. Can I beat at least the first normal playthrough on hc?

I've played d2 on hc. But poe for example I would say is not playable on hc.

How often you dying in this game?

I have played for 3 months and only died 3 times. once On a level 10 when I didn't have renown, once at lvl 74 trying to leech a game with monsters 40 levels higher and once at level 100 to rotsplinter (I didn't know he can 1 shot you).

I am a hardcore player and have competed on POE and Diablo games in the past. You may find yourself in a different situation if you rip in other games. You wil infact rip in this one. Hardcore is not a matter of "if" you die. It's a matter of "when". Same rules apply to all hc variants. PLAY YOUR STASH!

D4 is a lot harder than D2 but not as hard as PoE in my opinion.

This is the last season where cheat death elixirs and other mechanics are being allowed, they are getting removed in season 4.

If you're somewhat decent at building your character just pay attention to on-death mechanics of mobs, the level of mobs, and be cautious of boss mechanics.

The way most people die is trying to fight mobs way higher level than them or attempting a boss for the first time without knowing the mechanics (you can use an elixir to test the waters here).

Keep an Unstoppable ability on your bar at all times and don't try to dive recklessly into high level territory and you should mostly be fine.

I recommend to wait for season 4, leveling will be way faster.

At the moment if the game crashes, you can lose yur character, it can hang up on opened minimap while monsters are hitting you, etc.

In diablo 2, or even 3, I was playing HC constantly and I can't remember a single moment where I lost character due to ui bug or game crash.
