Now I see I still loot some malignant heart mats in game, but I no longer see maxxroll or other guides tell us to farm and wield them, are they just not good at the moment?

the malignant hearts were season 1 powers, there were brought back in season 2 as a main stay to the game available now in a different form, each character class got there best heart turned into a ring, you can target farm these rings from varshan, the malignant heart consumable you are getting is a body piece to run varshan, you need the heart the head the arm and the femur bone, 4 pieces in total, the tunnel for the varshan fight is next the tree of whispes.
