basically i was thinking, a good game or a movie comes out, ofc gets an expansion
and imagine the expansion is also good and gets another expansion

assuming all the games in the chain were really good, at which point would you look at the title and just say "okay its a bit too much, pls stop"

true, as long as a live service game makes money, i dont really see the need to make a new one thats something i just dont get with poe2, it will create a massive player burnout by splitting players attention in an already mentally straining game. i mean okay with d4 it will work because its a shit game so its not gonna hold ppls attention long enough to create a burnout

also i think the burnout in live service games is permanent and affects every other instance in the series. so once someone quits for example poe, as soon as he starts poe2, hes basically starting with a burnout, same as someone whos been taking xanax his entire life is going to have high tolerance to lets say valium to begin with. this is ofc only my thinking and doesnt have to be true, but it feels logical

Well there is obvious benefit that "+1" title looks like a new game - it sells like a new game, you buy it as a separate game for relevant price, it can even have expansions, and so on.

I think it is probaby hard to let's say make a game called "diablo" and then constantly charge like 70$ per year for content update, for 10 years in a row for example.
