well...he doesnt appear to have the (((physiognomy))) required, so no outside help to give him a head start
in a weird way his success is a product of pure meritocracy...or well, a perversion of it

the guy makes money, at least short term. long term he killed trust in blizzard, but you see, no one thinks long term anymore. tomorrow we might have ww3, in a few years we might have a pole shift.. short term gains is where its at brothers  after all, when you have a good "reputation", it doesnt matter if you tank a company, you just go to a new one!

if only people actually watched who is at the head of a company before they buy a game <_< but nooo, they trust ign and streamers
and even then if they only learned from their mistakes. but noooooo
<_<

Imagine triple A game just crashing while you are playing - that's an illustration of what is going on. I mean the idea is they keep throwing these "new content", like some garbage repetetive dungeon where you need avoid traps (!). and this flow of "content" just keeps going, aka "live service game". That's crazy.

personally i think whoever invented the term "live service game" should be taken outside and shot
live service is basically a way to groom young gamers into (((lending))) types of economy
that never ends well lemme tell you

the "seasonal" model plays into that "grooming" also. i strongly believe that one of the main factors contributing to d4s utter failure is the fact that we know they are holding out on us. no tier5 until s6 because they need content. no cube until s7, no merc until s8...
ladders were good for varying reasons in d2, alot most of which simply dont exist in d4. d4 isnt a game, its smoke and mirrors to get easy access to my visa on a re-occuring schedule. or at least thats what it feels like given the uninteresting content.

I've played the game since launch an haven't bought anything, I mean what even is there ? Ass cosmetics ? Pass. Might actually get my wallet for pay to win mechanic.

just because youre not spending any additional money doesnt mean they arent pushing for it... or that they have built a game model designed to bring players back for another opportunity to get their wallets out.
if they cared to make resets enjoyable, they would allow things like open trading, as opposed to making sure we are all aware of what was newly added to the store... or the battle pass, or the accelerated battle pass, or the 100$ expansion.

the seasonal model is no longer about the reset of the game itself for the player to enjoy, but rather another opportunity to get you back in the store. the general consensus that these games are to be played for a week or two at a time since the lack of depth cant
keep anyone around longer is a joke.

the monetization has been over the top aggressive, and would be relatively easy to ignore, if the game was any good.

blizzard clearly stated we would never see pay to win in the store. at this point, it would be the last nail in the coffin if they did. but honestly, i wouldnt be surprised.

very true! seasonal content does kinda force the devs to not blow their load all at once so to say  long gone are the d2 times, when a new season just meant a fresh start..now, since the games are boring as shit, they need to force the players to start a new season, and they do that with seasonal content :( my theory is that this is why we see massive burnouts like in poe, where people need to play in order to not miss anything, and after being forced to do something they dont want for too long of a time, they are like "you know what, fuck it. i dont give a shit anymore"

ofc with d4 its even worse because poe at least has a lot of things to offer, shallow as they may be. with d4 the devs are like "wait for s12 for this to come out", and people are like "no" ^_^
