I have bought D4 a few weeks ago for pc and enjoy playing it. I also played D3 on both pc and the Nintendo Switch. The Switch controls for D3 are actually easier than on pc imo, at least when playing LoD Mage Necromancer.

I actually play D3 on Switch with my 8 year old son, as it's pretty cartoon like and he isn't allowed to watch cutscenes. He's actually pretty good at it now and can even follow my speed playing Necromancer (he makes his own Necromancer, I have my personal zNec :P).

Now I'm thinking about buying a PS5 just so I can play D4 with him. I understand the itemization is a lot worse and more time consuming than it is on D3 (I still help him with the builds), but are the controls a bit equal to D3 and will he be able to play it?

D2 LOD seems like a pretty challenging game at 8-9 years haha

how u know d4 is so bad, people compare it to d3's console experience in the d4 section

which is true tbh, d3's fluidity is amazing.

and no, your kids should be growing up playing d2 not d3 or d4. look back at how you grew up and put yourself in their shoes. don't instill terrible core arpg values on these kids. they are even more spoiled now now since they got d2r for the graphic fidelity

The controls are very intuitive and feel decent/easier than on d2r if you've played that on ps4. There's still some skills/targeting that are clunky for certain skills but not nearly the same as d2r (where some skills are nearly impossible to use accurately).

D4 was designed with consoles in mind as well as PC. D2r feels like it was ported as an after thought simply because of the money that would have been missed by people who have console and no PC.

That said, look up couch play for console/ps5, unlike PC you can play together on the same screen (a somewhat exploitable aspect of consoles that people build a second character/account to double farm events and boss mats). If you're actually playing together though it's an experience reminiscent of gauntlet legends/golden axe if you've ever played those. Very fun and easier to carry/help someone who doesn't game at your level (and frustrating sometimes lol).
