i'm currently using a blizz sorc and i'm using firebolt enchantment (as well as frozen orb) so i apply burning to everything
i'm also using devouring blaze passive so i think esu's ferocity would just add some critical strike dmg
am i wrong?

Yes, you are wrong.

Esu's ferocity doesn't work with burning damage (dot effect), it only works with direct fire damage from skills you cast.

Modern blizzard yet again shows us brilliant logic, where burning damage is not equal fire, in this case exactly.

Also keep mind that, a lot of sorc passives are bugged at the moment, including esu's ferocity - at the moment those passive bonuses works for lightning and cold skills also, but this probably will be fixed later.

Devouring blaze will work because you apply burning, but not for blizzald base damage, which is dot effect - dot effects can't crit.

To get benefit from devouring blaze for blizzard, you need ice spikes aspect and/or xfals rings, because both of them can crit.

Overall firebolt enchatment ofcourse will activate all bonuses against "burning", which you get from paragon etc, both for dots and direct damage.

I meant you can't crit with blizzard itself - so devouring doesn't help you here.

But ofc when you get spikes and xfals, devouring blaze will work there. And ice spikes (probably) will apply burning, should be tested probably, but if it they will you can just remove frozen orb, if you want to.
