because these delusional devs don't view it as building characters. they view seasonal content and ladder through a marketing lens, which its sole purpose is to bend over the player as much as possible, so they extract as much $ as they can

passion is super important, especially in the context of game dev (and any kind of development work, really). instead, these companies hire based on diversity, bullshit resume qualifications and education. this kind of passion can't be taught, it comes from within and years of experience. it's evident from the diablo 3 lead designer mentioning they don't even know what a HoZ was. just shows how out of touch their hiring process is.

only way it is going to be solved is a full dissolution. but honestly, that's just the first step as the next is the creation of the company. which finding people with deep passion for the arpg genre will be difficult, especially in leadership/managerial positions. sadly, nowadays, that's who makes all the final decisions instead of the players and developers.. which is a whole other can of worms

Yes, if you saw clip how they made age of empires i think back in 90s, how professional developers was, and with good ideas, you can tell by looking at developers they make good games, now its just clown parade, with so many dumb decitions thats only thing you can say is WTF, makiing seasons at 2 second month of game, forcinhg leave their characters, and start fresh, its good for buisness, becouse new seasons, means new characters builds so they can buy more items from stores

i think i've seen that video. those devs looked like your average player and totally geeked out, which was awesome because at the same time they were just like us but also programming wizards. that created some sense of similarity that attracted players. now, as you said it's a clown show where they dress in suites or a RGB shirt to show support (which is totally irrelevant to the genre, and actually creates a larger divide, especially in the arpg playerbase).

this highlights a larger issue because it shows how wide the gap is from devs -> playerbase at the physical level. now imagine at the development level where game design issues come into play, lmao it's all fck'd
