This question is in regards to a weapon for a ball lightning sorc...

Hi, curious why one would want all stats on a weapon instead of another damage stat like crit dmg/close/vulnerable etc.

As far as I'm aware, as long as you have enough all stats to get the bonus' on the rare nodes, but once you've gotten the reachable rare node bonus, it seems like having a weapon with these stats:

int
close dmg
mastery
crit dmg

would be better than

int
all stats
mastery
close

One of the biggest reasons, I believe, aside from the general boosts the specific stats give, is to help fulfill the requirements of certain glyphs (their bonuses).

for sure, but once you're past that, then it doesnt seem worth it...unless im missing something

No, if you have all the appropriate stats to ensure your glyphs all function without the all stats on the weapon, I would look into something that better solidifies the build -
i.e. fill it with more damage/crit/etc as needed.

Yep it's about pushing enough stats for your 5th and 6th board rare node boosts

Stats for your later paragon boards to meet requirement for additional bonuses from rare nodes.

Also very useful in general, because main stat is still a multiplicative bucket so you can think of it as a “mini” main stat affix + extras. Combined with the bonuses above, nothing will beat all stat.

Crit and Vuln was nerfed hard and really not desirable anymore as Crit and vuln bonuses just go into the omega damage bucket as additive damage now.

Main stat is still multiplicative which all stat gives you. It’s just a small multiplicative boost but at least as good as any of the additive damage bucket stats typically.

Also as others referenced the rare node paragon unlocks gets more “expensive” with each successive board you add to your tree. Typically the first couple of boards are easy to hit the reqs but it becomes more difficult the further out you get.
