The trend seems to be slightly cheaper during the day (US times), prices increasing in the evenings, during the week.
On Friday, they jump up and stay elevated all weekend, and it takes at least 1-2 days into the following week for them to come back down.
This is just an observation, not an exact science, but I'd buy during the week when they're at their lowest, etc.
