It's finally on sale, so I figured I'd grab this piece now that winter has come and I get more indoors time...

What advice do you guys have to someone starting out?

Whether it be classes / builds / playstyle

Dont play dudu as 1 char.
Finish main storyline using any lvling build. Story is really good
Dps on your weapon is most important stat.
Dismantle all items, gold is cheap and you can buy it
Save items with good aspect rolls
Do not invest in build a lot while before tier 4. You will use ancestral items only
If you are struggling on boss to access tier 4 - just pay 20 fg to someone for killing him

Thanks!

I'm primarily playing it for the story, while being open to have it temporarily replace d2r if it falls to my liking. "Don't go dudu" - gotcha!

Agree, druid is boring AF at start.
If you want fast combo based playstyle go rogue, if you want 1 button build go barb, if you want projectile based go sorc or necro.

Was thinking of sorc/rogue.

Follow-up question: Is the sorc similar to d2 - where you basically want to go sorc for teleport? Or is d4 more like d3 in that regard?

More like d3...

Teleport isnt as critical as it was in d2 when it comes to movement. Its still a great skill, but in d4 youre basically not teleporting to the end of the dungeon for a quick boss kill like in d2 mf runs.
However, teleport is still great for "combat" movement and also applying cc effects. For the most part, all d4 sorcs are using teleport.

If youre thinking of sorc vs. rogue, determine if you want ranged or melee. Ranged rogues got better this season, but twisting blade (melee) rogues are still top tier.

teleport in d4 has a cooldown so you can't spam it like in d2

Sorcs typically go

Ice armor or flame shield
Teleport
Frost nova
Ult

Generator
Spender (skill you actually want to use)

Eventually you can give up your generator with enough mana Regen

Personally, I scrap everything at forge until level 50 (unless it's more dps/armor) unless it has aspect, just save those in stash so you can test what skills u like during those levels. Then just pick a build and scrap all legs that don't have the aspects u want. Extract others & put on gear as you level unless it's perf roll, save that for when you get 850+ items

Game's super easy tbh
