Common sense says that with the fixes to resistances in season 2, you'd want to stack diamonds in your jewelry.

But then why does every Ball Lightning Sorc build guide recommend skulls?

Is it because you make up for it in paragon?

if you need resistances, e.g. you are below 65, use diamonds which give resistances
if you need armor, e.g. you are already at 65+ res, use skulls which give armor

Yeah I realized it's on a character by character basis and not a one on general rule of "SKULLS" or "DIAMONDS."

If your fire resist is low for example put a royal ruby in, put the rest skulls.

Most likely cuz you'll be stacking int which gives a lot of res, you'll probably be needing more armor instead

Start with diamons/specific res and replace one by one with skulls as you get lvls/gear.

I'm lvl 100 and using 2 diamond 1 skull bc I'm like 2% short on 2 resistances. Probably losing that 2% psn/shadow wouldn't really matter and I could gain the 250 armor from a skull (armor is sorely needed on sorc), but meh. I'm ocd and like looking at max resistance.

Could probably make up the 2% res with 2 more 925 jewelries. Not sure what the guys in the builds that are posted are doing or how they cap with 3x skulls tbh.
