this might change after the patch but generally:
+total armor
+ max life
damage reduction (close/distant/fortified... depends on build)
either another damage reduction, or pure damages depending on build, i give you 4 examples:
ideally, right now, you want them 809+. The life cap on gear varies, ancestral means nothing. Before 791, the max life cap (non upgraded items) is 690. From 791 to 800 it is 718 (or 716) and 801 to 808 it is 746. 809+ is 776 base cap. With items reaching 925, i assume 920 in game, 925 with merchands, let's just add 100
Here are my chain lightning mage and my rogue armor, where you can see the life cap difference once upgraded, as well as my nec armor, and druid damage armor for easy content. On the nec i would prefer total armor instead of close, but i will wait to see the changes they announce tomorrow. But at least you see what the lifecap differences are once upgraded.


Hope this help you, enjoy gambling, but tbh i would just mass salvage/sell, since 920 items will make everything obsolete, unless you go for gloves and boots, where it only means less armor
