In one specific way. Many of you are probably reading this thinking, “d4 bad BG3 good”. I’m here to tell you all games have bugs and that our savior Larian Studios is not immune.

Basically the PS5 split screen co op is garbage and constantly freezes and lags. You can’t even play the game past act 1.

After spending 2 hours to do one part of a map, with more time freezing then actually playing… My wife looked over at me and said, “do you want to play Diablo 4 instead?”

GG

TCM a cheaper game, looks like more fun with a partner. Never have I witnessed anything in diablo 4 that made me think "man I should really be playing this myself". Games that have achieved that for me recently are TCM, Elden Ring, BG3, and a few others I've noticably forgotten. I should probably start writing a list there's so many indies that launch every year. I know Elden Ring came out a while ago but it still stands out as a big impulse purchase. I'm in this phase where I watch other people play games more than actually playing them myself. Probably has to do with not trusting my computer after it crashed enough times. I think I should have invested in console gaming because it's fewer headaches and less carpel tunnel.

Same here, got a PS5 to simplify things for myself. Computers are a non stop money sink for various upgrades and peripherals. Console gaming is just easier at this point.

True plus many games are tuned for consoles anyways. The only features I'd miss on consoles would be chat, which isn't really necessary if they start incorporating qwerty keyboards in the center of controllers, discord, or both. People are so used to typing on their phones having a small keyboard in a controller wouldn't exactly be difficult to use, although I'd prefer voice chat to just avoid straining wrists. There's really no reason they won't just allow keyboard and mouse for some games in the future on console. Just like newer Diablo titles allow controller functionality on pcs.

both r pretty meh, its 2023 turn base shit just turns me off. ppl trying to praise studio who actually trying to making mediocre game these days to lure AAA studio to follow, its pretty sad. over the years standard of gaming has been deteriorated both from the developer's side and gamer's side, BG3 wouldn't even make top 10 of the year if it was release between period of 2000-2012 with those days graphic. gaming r pretty dead AAA studio r focusing on remake milk us for nostalgia, there hardly any new game that make me want to spend money or time to play. I used to play about 10-15 games a year during 2000-2012, nowadays I barely play more then 2-3.

It’s not turn based so yeah the combat is better

Everything else is so much worse it’s a bit insulting to even attempt to make the comparison

I think your bias against turnbased games is what leads you to honestly draw out your conclusion.

I prefer turnbased games so again I'm bias the other direction but there's absolutely no doubt in mind that bg3 is way beyond meh if you actually grasp how differently you can go through each scenario yielding vastly different results that trickle through the rest of the game.

I thought Divinity 2 was revolutionary for turnbased games back in time but this is well on another level. Pathfinder is good too but obviously far less cinematic, but still excellent story telling.

You're also not a kid anymore. What adult plays 10 games. Even 2-3 is way too much for most of us now. We get to play 1 game a few hours a week.

r preference on turnbased game is not so much different compared to mine. BG3 just mediocre on all lvl, there nothing innovating or ground breaking about decision making. ever played dragon age or mass effect og trilogy? I'm not interested going to list everything wrong about todays gaming, but if u played game between the period of 2000-2012 u literally played the best era of gaming. RTS, MMO, ARPG and innovation r at peak in gaming industry. today, same dog shit with different coat get ppl all exciting and called it game of the year. which exactly what I said deterioration from both end both developer and gamer.

That may be your opinion but I did play the mass majority of my gaming time during that period and I also absolutely know I look at it with Rose tinted glasses because I was younger. Even dog shit games like warz was fun back then because it was always on mumble or vent with friends.

There's been excellent releases since then though that absolutely I would call great games. Pillers, pathfinder games, Divinity, Bg3, even in the arpg genra I think Grim Dawn was great.

I'll never be able to play multiplayer games and enjoy them the way I did from mid 90s to 2012 or so. It's very much my age and not lack of games to play.

I'm quite certain it's the case for many of us. I could play battlefield 3 again but it wouldn't even remotely be what it was when I was younger.

Don't get me wrong I think there's a significant decline in innovation of games, but I do think there's been some excellent releases still and I do think bg3 is one.
