Compared to 20 years ago. And I don't think it's because today's games are not as good. It's not just D4 (though it does seem to have a few problems). I just find that generally I don't have any strong desire to want to play games and when I do play, I play for like 20 minutes and then I have to do something else.

Yep it's the curse of getting older I think, I'll hop on games wit friends and do a few rounds of warzone or apex but it's not as fun anymore

i hate the "game as a service" model and not just in games. i hate the monetization based on it, which is designed to make the player waste as much time on the game as possible even though he otherwise wouldnt, which leads to burnouts (as you can only go so far forcing yourself to do something you dont want). i hate skill based matchmaking, i hate censorship and the forced behavior that comes with it, i hate propaganda, i hate the lack of story. i hate that the dialogue, i mean just look at this shit:



i still like playing the games i used to like playing ! i might be getting old, but in my case, its not me thats the problem games now are indeed shit. now, since i do have less time to play games, its kinda good that all new games are shit cause this way i dont feel like im losing anything

edit: i think the problem is that we are older now and have much more important things to do the love for gaming never went anywhere, its just hard to take your time and enjoy things when life is pressuring you to do more important stuffs

It’s not only because we are getting older. It is the games that suck, in most cases.

There are some good games. There are just very few of them. Slay The Spire, Baldur’s Gate 3, …

Most of the AAA games are developed like a boring corporate project. No wonder the result is what it is.

And they all gravitate towards the same endform: Netflix with buttons.

No one who has ever actually played one of the games you’re calling ‘netflix with buttons’ would ever describe them like that. Some of the games I’m absolutely certain you’re talking about such as god of war, ghost of Tsushima, and spider man have incredible gameplay. You love to whine for the sake of it, and it’s even more sad than this thread

It's the lie of life. Parents are like secret service agents keeping secret the true nature of life from their children, while slowly immersing them into it's unpleasantness. They may even start to hate them for it.

Go to school it's going to be fine, you'll make friends etc. It's NOT fine, it's a concentration camp designed to prevent them from just going out there and living their life.

Then Diablo II comes to contrast with all of the bullshit they've been told that it will be good out there! Fake, bullshit good meets real good and out of it is born the Diablo II experience.

Then there was the growing up. When you realize it was all bullshit, but by that time, you've been stripped of your youngest years, and great feels like alright, sugar tastes like lemon and you can barely get a hard-on anymore.

To top it up, Diablo 4 comes out as the worst game ever made on planet Earth.
