Someone voting D1 is so clueless. It was a milestone. By far the most important one and that alone makes it impossible to be the worst.

It may not be as great today but for it’s time it was what shaped the genre as a dark game and have diablo the success to make Diablo 2..
If anything imo diablo 1 was the most important of the franchise but it is a poll people are welcome to disagree

It is not ‘by far’ the most important when d2 is the most influential game in the history of the genre

It was an important step forward but d2 laid the framework for what every decent arpg has looked like since

Anyway for the poll d3 is the worst by a wide margin

I disagree. Mainly because D1 was the one which started it all. There wouldn't be D2 with no D1.

Diablo 2 I think was the best diablo game, but if diablo 1 was a
Flop the franchise may have stopped at diablo 1.

If diablo 1 was awful diablo 2 would not exist is why I state it’s the most important.

They had a shoestring budget for diablo 1, it’s success lead to a much bigger budget for diablo 2.

So if you enjoyed diablo 2, thank the success of diablo 1.

Perhaps invest less in donar stars and more in education m9

Besides, there are things that D1 did better, actually. The atmosphere of D1 is unmatched. I still remember people complaining at release that D2 wasn't dark enough, had too little dungeons and a lot of the action took place outdoors. The music in D1 was better too.


Shame they cut out the Butcher cut scene.

I had diablo 1 for PlayStation around time of release it was so far ahead of games like it.
The Erie music and dark scenery and evil feel was unheard of at the time.
The trailer for diablo 1 was actually super dark lol and creepy I’ll see if I can find it
