1) new game about to come out (in this case d4)
2) you know its gonna be shit based on simple pattern recognition
3) you tell ppl but they dont listen
4) fanboys talk shit to you ("you dont really have a source on that claim, do you", "look at these 9s and 10s on review sites", "look at those streamers praising the game")
5) you get a few suspensions, warns or bans, thanks to midwits who report you and other midwits who outrank you
6) you are eventually proven right
7) fanboys silently leave and the next time this happens, no one will believe you again
8) game dies
9) back to 1)
this happens not just for games, but for any hyped up event. for example in the case of a certain pharmaceutical concoction the ppl that have been right from the start got zero recognition (and even got attacked), while grifters that were all for it but changed tune only when the evidence was overwhelmingly against them, get praise, and will be listened to the next time all over again even though they were wrong. just look at john campbell for example (okay hes just a midwit and probably not a grifter, but still)
i guess its true that if you travel faster than light, you only see darkness
