Where does the Shockwave start? right in front of me or after the pulverize (circle)?

Because im testing what affix is better on my Staff ( close dmg or distant dmg)

Can't answer for certain but it seems to me that it starts from behind but the radius for shock is a lot smaller that standard pulverise. Distant damage > close damage for shock though.
