And it's what many hardcore players expected, the game sucks. At least we can pat ourselves on the back now for being right. Too bad they wasted over a decade making another ARPG that is mediocre at best....again! That's what happens when you copy the Diablo 3 template and add nothing new and interesting. Monster scaling doesn't work in ARPGs for a proper feeling of accomplishment. Itemization built completely around aspects doesn't work either. The game has no real social experience because trading was gutted to only random items (rares) and not static items (uniques/runes). Half of the game is missing without static chase items and the trading that ensues.

The open world doesn't really fit in this type of game either because it causes severe issues with grouping itself. It might fit a true mmo, but this is an arpg we're talking about. If they wanted to turn Diablo into wow they should have gone all in rather than this bastardized hybrid open world experience. As in over the shoulder instead of isometric and having heavy rpg elements. What we got was some really weird combination of ideas from multiple games that just doesn't mesh well together.

Monsters have no personality and the sound design behind monsters and music is trash.

The unfortunate reality these days is mediocre is actually slightly higher than industry standard

IMO the game isn't going to be a classic by any means but it is a decent pvm/dungeon crawler/casual experience which caters to Blizzard's demographic (30+ y/o adults with hobbies and a career)

I think if they had responded by saying they will try to solve the problems immediately the game might stand a chance. I believe the answer given was that certain solutions wouldn't even be added until season 2 though because of the way they get authentication on patches for consoles possibly slowing down the process with red tape. Even if they addressed problems as soon as possible there's still a mountain of issues with the game. People say the core is there but I beg to differ. The core of the game is the root of the problem. They took too many terrible ideas from D3 (scaling/itemization) and now they're basically stuck with it.

In terms of an ARPG this game has next to no replayability and the population will crater beyond season 1. Like we already discussed it has no social, no good trading as rares aren't static, and the content always feels the same due to scaling unless your gear falls behind. There's a third of the game missing (chase items).

funny how Crossed is out of the game for almost a week now. d4's marketing team probably eased off a bit on their payroll since they marketed the sh*t out of the game already

They probably have a date for their marketing team to move on to promoting other products. D4 has probably made the lion's share of the profits it's ever going to make. I don't see the game selling well beyond the first month. Maybe if an expansion overhauls every issue?

Yeah, it certainly has a lot of issues that prevent it from being more enjoyable. I'm not "burnt out" yet, but I've also only got 1 character which is an 86 Barb so I'm not the best person to quantify the overall lousier experience. I also find myself not playing for days/a week at a time because it lacks a lot of engaging qualities.

Did you ever wake up in the morning thinking about the game? The best games I've ever played were immediately in my mind waking up in the morning. Maybe that's just me though.
