False.
They witnessed all the backlash to D3 and concluded the problem was purely aesthetic and can be solved by copying the same D3 gameplay formula but using non cartoony models and a mud filter
couldn't say it better myself. items are the core of diablo, what do they do? bring it to retardation level and make all items obsolete unless they are legendary. What happened to builds, or build defining items, stats, actual affixes? Now it's just number is bigger, so it's necessarily better.
Oh you use spells? well your weapon doesn't have +% cold or fire dmg or skills, your weapon sets your damage and that's it.
What about abilities on cooldowns, potions on cooldown, clearly console oriented UI, how is that "diablo". It isn't.
Even the inventory is exactly the same as d3, down to the item tooltips.
I don't know. I think it's worth giving a shot, but I don't see it living up to the hype unless they do some major changes. The devs have not played d2 for more than a few hours and it shows.
They have no idea what the game is about, it's certainly not "that next legendary item drop"
