Farming fg is not a D2 feature, it's a 3rd party way to cheat the system, make the game P2W, and incentivize botting - plain and simple.

not the most appropriate meme cause its not technically related to what you said...still usable for later though

i mean...well yeah. jsp is a 3rd party way to cheat the system...but i think we shouldnt see that as something bad

! i mean, the trading system was shit, jsp just offered an advantage. i use jsp so i belong to a masterrace and im not even sorry. and jsp was indeed responsible for bots (at least back when jsp was based), but i mean, why are bots so bad? back when i played d2, everyone had bots. some people had 1, some had 100...there was no hate or envy really! we could go out, have fun, or even sleep, and when we came back, we would see a ber or jah, griffon, coa, other fun thingies...it was awesome! the bots did the dirty work and we would just enjoy the game! everyone actually loved having bots and no one saw it as a problem
SO CONSPIRACY THEORY TIME! my theory is this: bot hate is astroturfed

its just not genuine. what i believe happened is this: gaming companies these days care the most about player money/time spent; this is done by buying mtx for items, grinding for extremely rare items, or straight up paying for items. either way its all about items. and bots give you items, for free! so bots are a problem, not for the player, but for the company

gaming companies before would just ban bots, but then they invented a much better strategy: make people hate bots, while implementing "solutions" that would actually serve other purposes (non tradable uniques arent there to fight bots, but carrot on a stick item to keep the player grinding), but mask those fake solutions as being implemented to fight the "bot issue". in reality, there never was a bot issue. everyone who played d2 knows bots were a big positive for the players
