Shallow? I didnt know much about the game, or the current state of blizzard, or any of that hootenanny. I knew it was the next game in the Diablo series and that was enough for me. Will I buy D5? Probably. 6,7,8 - probably not, given the time between games it's likely to be at least 20 years before 6 comes out, and hopefully by then I'll learn this lesson I'm thinking youre thinking I should be learning.

Obviously the IP is a money maker so they will continue but imo I'd rather see Blizzard try to develop a new IP at this point.

Honestly, when Overwatch first came out and for a long time it was a decent game, they haven't done anything but make it worse since but it did show they weren't totally creativitly bankrupt dispite it taking a lot of its gameplay from TF2.

Since than we haven't seen any real new IPs from Blizzard. Some failed remakes like WC3 Remastered, some pretty poor WoW expansions except Dragonflight which seems well recieved, a shitty mobile game and a piss poor addition to Diablo in the form of D4.

I think they need to leave the IP behind or sell it to a different company and stop trying to integrate past games into the new ones which ultimately is done poorly.

I just don't know if the corporate side will allow it since its easier to milk past IPs which restricts developers.

I guess they're working on sometime of survival game but we'll see, after the failure of StarCraft Ghost and Titan, which just had assets rolled into Overwatch I am pretty skeptical of new developments.

What made Starcraft and Warcraft 3 awesome was the community designing UMS. They were top notch designs. And than Starcraft 2 came out with a shitty map editor and all the UMS were shit.

Yeah that was certainly the reason for their longevity. I must have thousands of hours of custom games. Every td possible from the days of stacking turrets, to the more modern maul games and every other custom game in between. Sheep tag, footies, evolves, dota, tides of blood, enfos, starship troopers, the list goes on and on and on. Quality community driven content.
