you made the right move. as ^BoomTitties said, buying the game is all they need. a lot of companies nowadays think oh hey thanks for the $, guess i don't need to develop the game anymore. actually one reason why i like free 2 play with a mtx shop. if they don't really dish out new content, they arn't gonna get any more funds and doesn't really allow for lazy game design. now of course that depends on the company. some gaming companies are really good at that, but i'd venture to say most are not
This game has more sources of monetization (box+micros) than F2P games and their seasonal patch doesn't reflect that. They added some glorified legendary gems, reskinned dungeons, and a plethora of nerfs. I've seen F2P games that weren't that emaciated on content release. Season 1 should be a wake up call for players thinking they're going to get good support from this so called live service.
They also tried to kill eternal realms with the nerfs being counteracted via the new gems, forcing people onto seasonal. New game patch is balanced around gems that don't even exist for a portion of the player base. Seems like a scheme to sell battle passes.
