D3 is easily the worst for me personally because that's where I stopped playing. Never purchased D4 as a result of D3s failure and so I can't really even give a personal opinion on D4 other than what I can derive from footage which I don't spend time watching.

D1 was fine just like Orcs and Humans but I don't think anyone is going to say Orcs and Humans held a stick to how good Reign of Chaos Or The Frozen Throne was even if they come from an earlier generation of games.

I think he meant that D1 paved the way for D2. It was important in the sense that without it, there probably wouldn't have been D2.

Personally, I agree that D1's atmosphere was absolutely unmatched. It was the only game that made me shit my pants while playing. Fear and dread in the air constantly.
D2 does not replicate that feeling for me at all.

Diablo 2 had a lot of good games to compete against
Diablo 1 was a relic that did not, diablo 2 was a better game but the genre did not exist before hand it’s still the darkest Erie diablo game
