Ehh I know some folks loved them. They definitely werent for me. I’m a simpleton. I play arpg’s to kill monsters. And you largely don’t kill monsters relative to other activities since there is a 12s timer in between each Baal run (usually more after wave 3 since the hydras need to de-spawn).
baal runs is perfect for a simpleton because you can just wait and the monsters come to you, but it seems like you don't like the wait time between waves, which is perfectly fine. i understand baal runs could not be for everyone
to me, baal runs were casual af just to grind out that level. but sometimes they could be really fun because you could host them. "carrying xx other people" just isn't a thing that ever popped up in poe (not sure about d4) too which is sad
edit: also on the flip side, joining rand baal games and don't really have to do any work to get exp was fun too. the good ol playing with just your mouse hand and leveling up. sometimes that was needed in d2, just needed to take a break from killing shit every once in a while
