Ok, who cares? Anyone can bastardize anything.
That doesn't justify them going out of their way to overreach into a video game discord, to have frog emojis banned.
The frog meme is well known, and it's used for all sorts of things; which are mostly with good intent. It's like a piece of clay.
If they want to label ALL forms of the frog as hate, then there's something more going on.
How can you call a customizable frog, a symbol of hate? On the other hand; you can easily call the static ADL logo, a hate symbol; in consonance with their own actions and statements.
The ADL has proven to be an extremist organization and a hate group by their own definition.
They target people and go after groups. You can say something that is 100% the truth; if it offends them, they will ruin your life in any possible way.
By using extortion, trying to micro manage speech, "encouraging" new laws, de-banking people, etc. Anything that they can do to silence and control their target.
So I don't want to see the ADL dictate any rules, anywhere. These people go over the top and will abuse any resource or partnership that is available to them.
Bro that’s not how the world works, it isn’t a two way street.
Someone at an anti hate group sees racist Pepes among rare and precious Pepes and it gets circulated as a symbol of hate because 99% of people don’t go googling cartoon frog memes when they read a headline about it while taking a dump at work.
It’s not an overreach, and if people were posting 88 or any other actual coded hate symbol, we’d all agree they’re right.
I think this is more professional hate speech detectors or whatever not seeing nuance, and I can’t say I expect everyone to google whether Pepe is racist when the first Pepe they see is swastika Pepe right?
