Baal runs on d2. But it wasn't just Baal runs, there was an addicting cycle of pve content mixed with pvp that made the online replayability factor so high. Games like poe can't even come close to this, as their pvp is trash. As is for most arpgs

I loved a lot of aspects of d2, but I dunno how folks get nostalgic over Baal runs. Baal runs as the late game leveling meta was just awful.

D3 was (even is still) addictive. D4 is not.

"YoU JusT DiD BaaL RunS" is just a bs talking point by the d4 defenders. shocker incoming: playing an arpg requires doing repetitive stuff. that's the entire nature of the genre, kill mobs over and over again

..and if you honestly believe that's all someone could do in d2, that's also wrong

Baal runs as a leveling meta just objectively sucked. They sucked because you actually didn’t kill hardly any monsters. Chaos runs were way more enjoyable because you’d actually kill things, the exp just capped out. Terror zones were such a good addition in D2r.

i don't mean you specifically just in general. a lot of d4 defenders say that phrase

baal runs didn't objectively suck. they were a way to grind in a way that everyone knew how. you could also run your own public runs and it felt great to carry 7 other people. that's the total opposite of "objectively sucking". and chaos runs were enjoyable too, as you said

not sure what you mean by "hardly killed any monsters". you get 5 waves of fcking mobs lol. have to clear worldstone area too

Both D3 and D4 sux as a sequel to D2R

Ehh I know some folks loved them. They definitely werent for me. I’m a simpleton. I play arpg’s to kill monsters. And you largely don’t kill monsters relative to other activities since there is a 12s timer in between each Baal run (usually more after wave 3 since the hydras need to de-spawn).
