just ban everyone who bought them dirt cheap billions of gold lol. and anyone who got bllions of gold for 3/4 rares or services. then 70% of playerbase can go back to a game worth playing
They can't ban all these players. These are the same players that will buy their battle pass, their cosmetics, their expansions and any microtransactions they add into their games.
The people that cheat, dupe, exploit, and want to pay to win are the very same people that Blizzard makes the most profit off in the long term because their entire business model is to paywall features and sell convenience back to those that can afford it. And the people that buy gold and items have proven that they can afford it, just not directly from Blizzard. This includes everyone on jsp, who have been actively breaking tos since the inception of this website in 2002 and continue to do so as long as it exists. There is no need to be disingenuous and feel moral superiority towards dupers when we would all be labeled cheaters according to their tos. The paradox is that Blizzard wants our money to go into their pockets instead of a secondary market, but that can't happen if the biggest spenders are banned. This is the balance of profit vs ethics/morals that is happening in the game industry. Execs want to sell to the biggest whales (us, people that have spent thousands on blizzard games and engaged with their product for decades) but can't overdo it unethically because selling gold directly would lose profitability from the demographic of new and legitimate players. They are not going to explicitly state this but these are the decision making processes happening at executive meetings. The software development team trying to make the best experience for the player can only do so up to a point because they don't make the final decisions. Someone who doesn't even play computer games but has a degree in math/pr/markering/business that can calculate and project numbers and knows how to squeeze the maximum profit out of their demographic is getting the final say in game development at this point
