definitely had nothing to do with you being 11

The difference is that when we were 11 we were flooded by new tech and graphics, while current 11 year olds play the same Fortnite low poly bullshit they played 10 years ago where the only innovation is imprinting your identity into a game.

It may have been an objectively better time, and you’re right we’re not controlling for that in our arguments.

The hardest part of this game is not getting 1 shot. Outside of that, there's a video explaining what you need to do for anything

Just pointing out how you being young at the time of finding the bonesnap maul was a big part of why you were "blown away". I too was blown away in the year 2001 playing Diablo 2 for the first time at the age of 13. I doubt I will ever be able to replicate that experience with an ARPG because it was a brand new game genre for me at the time.

no need to be a  :baby:

Yeah but then you agree, this is a paint-by-numbers followup effort that’s based on signals from the second game, and not based on the thought that created the second game.

It’s the difference between jk Rowling writing a Harry Potter book and me writing a Harry Potter book. J k is working off of source material (her thoughts) and I’m working off off reactions (how I vaguely remember the experience of watching her work).

That’s why the game feels uninspired, because it is. It’s inspired by trying to recapture something from the consumption end, which is what you’ve seen create other bafflingly hollow games and films over the last few years.

Holy shit. I never thought of it like that. One is more than the other, therefore the greater of the two is more clever, innovative and rewarding.

Mind, blown…

You genuinely don’t see the difference in scale?

You genuinely don’t see the similarity in filling your weapon with whatever gives you the most damage?

What does scale matter in regards to cleverness and innovation? One is just more of the same than the other.

Because in one your choices impact gameplay, and in the other it does not. Your early level choices could make or break the difficulty of the game, and in d4 gems are required to be competent but don’t add much to your baseline.
