The only long running game full of cheats that I know of that still has players is WoW. Despite having an entire economy propped up by bots, wow players are stubborn and won't leave the game no matter how trashy it becomes with rampant cheating. They're so heavily invested in the game because of all the silly mounts/pets they've purchased over the years. And also invested into the achievements that mean nothing to anyone but themselves. They pat each other on the back for spending real money to acquire gold to outbid each other in gdkps.

Yeah the bots/cheating is definitely a big factor why D2 is dead but if all that was gone tomorrow I still wouldn't play because it's simply boring. Too easy, zero challenge. I actually still play PUBG sometimes even though that game also has bots and cheaters because it's fun and I honestly think it's the best BR.

Cheaters really do ruin games. They diminish the value other players can create for themselves out of the game. Once you ruin the value, merit, and sense of achievement in playing a game players tend to move on. Bots are the ultimate killers to player morale and motivation. Unless you're a wow player, in which case you just buy the gold the bots farmed and pretend to still have some sense of legitimacy. I think they're victims of the sunk cost fallacy of playing a game far too long.

The fact that you compared a ~6 week old triple "A" game to a remaster of a 20year old game tells alot about how much d4 is really missing. Despite its age, d2 has more to offer and is more fulfilling.

No, I dont want a d2 2.0 clone. I want d4 to live up to its expectations when using the diablo title. I want trading, a good endgame and good items. D4 is lacking immensely in all of those areas.

D2 took 2 decades to die, doesn't even look like d4 will last 2 years...

D2 has no end game and it's a boring, easy, snoozefest.
It's in no way, shape, or form fulfilling in the slightest.

They had 20 years to work on the game and still don't have more to offer than D4's not even 2 month lifespan.

Yeah Tarkov had a big cheater problem.
I kind of like extraction games like Dark and Darker.
I didn't play Tarkov however because it had a box price and I really didn't feel like learning about all the different bullet types and shit.

only an idiot would think it was in development for 20 years... but keep reaching for excuses... lol

d2 has no endgame, and its still better then what d4 currently has to offer...

you do realize that this is a d2 forum and many of us here actually played d2 ? so i dont know what ur trying to pull here, we know how it was cause we were there every ladder was full of people and random parties and you could have fun from beginning to end of the ladder and never be alone while doing it..and even on nl you could do that

people were playing the game, which means there obviously was an endgame. again, i was there and i know what the endgame looked like and how good it was. but for the zoomers who never had the chance to experience it, i know this might sound unbelievable, but people actually played d2 and logged in every day. no battle passes, no unique mtxs or daily events that you could miss out on, there was absolutely nothing that exploited sunken cost or fomo or any other psychological loophole, people just played for weeks and months because it was fun. and you dont do that if theres no endgame

now compare that to d4 that uses every trick in the book to attract and keep people in, and still it has a bigger drop than two and a half men when they replaced charlie sheen with ((ashton kutcher))

tldr: evidence > you
