They made a boring overworld and underworld (dungeons) because of the monetization. That's half the problem. It's like they've forgotten all the lessons learned about grid based level design and the ability to randomize the levels increasing replayability.

We saw in a recent interview the kind of airheads in charge of dungeon and quest design. The company doesn't even hire people who are passionate about their work. They might be passionate about an agenda but that's it. Then again blizz supposedly has some of the worst pay in the industry so it makes sense all the experts in their field are gone.

Unfortunately this is going to continue because too many people preordered which led to record sales again. That combined with fake reviews (game journo sellouts) suckered a lot of players into purchasing. We'll be stuck in an endless loop of this franchise with bad games. Sure they make a lot of money at launch because the fandom is filled with simps, just like apple or any company with a cult following, and they've reinforced their own beliefs they're on the right track with initial sales.

this is the problem with blizzard irvine. level design is not something they are concerned about. really the only thing i think they are concerned about is how to make loot feel addicting. they look at diablo and thats all they think it is and dont understand anything else. they need to get the fundamentals right like great level design, micro and macro and that goes hand in hand with good quests. have great gameplay and art. anything after d2 has not improved in these areas but have only regressed to something much worse. some how a game that features an open plane and a few buildings and fences has better level design then 3 and 4. this is the number one thing they should of improved on diablo 2 and they still get that wrong. the only thing that they care about is "EPIC LOOT xD" and some how a complete downgrade from diablo 2. they are actually clueless

Lol D3 made them a lot of mooney so they follow the same style n give it more polished D3 make more money from their targeted audiences, not D2R top G giga chad audiences b)
