Why is the diablo franchise blizzards red headed step child?

D1 and D2 are arguably some of the best games ever made imo and they’ve just absolutely took a fat steamy shit all over diablos legacy with diablo 3, 4, and immortal.


Long story short, don’t buy this shit game. Stick it to blizz. The only way you’ll get them to listen is if you hurt their wallets and stop buying these shit made games.

I totally concur. Either way I will be waiting to here the critics before I dump any money into greed. I haven't purchased a game in years because of this. Many developers have went to shit from being bought out.

I played the D4 Closed Beta's and didn't like them at all. It was boring and slow. However I don't agree that the actual game will be. No one will know until it's out. The closed beta was "end game" only.

IMO I’d say it’s looking awfully similar to path of exile and poe is an amazing game. At first glance I thought d4 looked like d3.5 too. But the more I look into it the more I see VERY high potential. I can’t wait to play it! Im super optimistic that it’ll be my new game for years to come.

The whole bind on pick up for items is a MAJOR disappointment though. Item trading is one of my favorite aspects of gaming. Rune words are supposed to be released at a later date. All games these days have battle pass’s, I see no problem with that. In fact I enjoy having/buying a battle pass.

Problem is it's not about being "more open". Some things you mentioned in your 3rd paragraph are pillars to the genre. If some of those do not exist, the entire foundation will collapse.

They could package d4 looking like Paul's adobe flash ladder slasher from 10 years ago, and people would still pre-order the fck out of the game solely because of the diablo name behind it

d2 is still 100x better than any trash arpg out on the market today, outside of maybe poe. i'd argue d2's replayability with its addicting pve+pvp cycle is mountains ahead of where poe or any arpg is at. battle royale was a glimpse of how great pvp in an arpg can be. sadly, poe's pvp isn't really there, now

there's a reason why so many are living in the past with d2. it's not a negative, it's a testament at how great the game is. and that says a lot, considering it's over 2 decades old

- The game was all about grinding and trading and sharing the loot with fellow players. Hopefully items can be traded with EVERYONE.

Diablo 4 narrows down the different ways to play diablo. Sadly.
