Diablo 4 is funny can't believe ppl bought that game, but idk easy to fool people these days, poe2 is obviously better..

Seeing turd fergusson rage about in on X .com has me laughing, "Diablo-Like"

that guy is absurd trying to take credit for anything Diablo, like he came up with the name or the story or the music

imagine piggy backing off someone else's IP and trying to claim it like you were an original creator, guy is a nutcase

Ye, he is clearly mad, lol.

It is funny how he is pretending d4 to be "Diablo like", when it is clearly not.

Temporarily for sure but so did every other “Diablo Killer”. My major issue with PoE 2 is the boss fights and drop quality. You can spend 10 minutes on a boss fight that has you thinking about every move you make in what feels like a “souls-like experience” At times and get garbage in return. Personally I play these types of games because after a hard day/week at work I can just sit down, veg out and grind using little to no brain power to do so.

My other problem is it’s just not fun. It feels dull with no personality. People can say what they will about the Diablo series but they always have a few characters and quests in there that can make you giggle… Examples:

Diablo - Who doesn’t remember Farnham dialogue? Wirt being a little jerk. The fallen stealing the tavern sign as their “magic banner”? Running from the butcher nearly shitting your pants when you open that door? Garbhad’s wack betrayal after acting like he’s a victim…. That’s a cow alright?

Diablo 2 - Cows with weapons standing on two legs? Moo… moo…moo? A cow king? You can actually hit someone with Wirt’s leg? Many a convo about Andariel’s design (you guys know I’m not explaining). Oops did I do that(one liner)?

Diablo 3 - The dude who kept his wife’s skeleton and her head rolls off onto the floor. More ridiculous cows. Rainbow land. Covitus Shen. Jay Wilson mob(and other dev team mobs). Horadric Hamburger and other funny weapons. (D3 had a shit ton of funny moments more than any of them so I’m not gonna even attempt to list more.)

Diablo 4 - Lorath passed out drunk in a pig sty. Blackmailing the priest after the exorcism. Meshif being somehow still alive and addicted to opium. The blind man quest where he retrieves his “eyes” from demons then explodes after putting them back in. Retrieving stolen goats and camels.

There are tons of other examples of course but ultimately the personality put into the Diablo series is much better than PoE. PoE is a great dark, dreary gothic style game but lacks a lot of personality in my opinion.

Seems to me, it is not temporarily.

Objectively, why do you think so? Each Diablo iteration has gained more fanbase than the previous. Although to be fair markets are getting bigger.

PoE gets a lot of love HERE because old heads from the D1/D2 era enjoy it. It’s what they always wanted but if you compare D4 forum activity to PoE on official forums it’s not even close.

PoE 2 will keep the same niche group of players because it is a good game. It won’t take that many away from D4 for very long. Especially since Rod and his team keep tapping the “Nostalgia Vein”…. What’s next? Witchdoctor skills? Then what? Hints at Diablo or Baal?

Blizzard is a lot of things but most importantly they know how to create income and let’s be real… regardless of how many people on here hoot and holler they won’t the majority of Diablo fans will spend more money the second they mention Diablo or Baal. Why? Because we all miss the glory days.

This isn’t diablo vs poe2. Purely d4 vs poe2. Big competitor but very different target player base. D4 has their hands on the casuals. Poe2 however does have all the ticks for d2 players. Diablo sequel> poe sequel, doesn’t necessarily means d4 > poe2.

There are a lot of people who wants to play endgame, and d4 just can't deliver here. How this will affect blizzard profit in the future, I don't know.

Most D2 players outside of jsp left the game years ago. Even D2R outside of JSP is pretty low population. A simple trip to official forums proves that.

The main reason being games have evolved way past such a simplified genre. By today’s gaming standards isometric arpgs are boring. That’s why their twitch numbers go way up at season launches then drastically crash a week later because they are simply a boring genre of game. That’s why PoE will continue to be below D4 because there will always be better end game in games from other genres than this genre. That’s also why D4 continues to thrive because end game isn’t really a main focus or an issue the casual experience and continued seasonal and content push is what they are focused on. An expansion every year or every year and a half? That’s wild to me. That’s more extreme than mmorpgs.

im hitting boogie2988 levels of fencesitting here, but yall raise valid points. i will also share my opinion which really adds nothing new to the discussion but oh well!

d2 will never be replaced. yes its true that the genre is now too "simple" and isnt done anymore, but i dont see why simplicity is bad at all. as terry davis said, the retard is impressed by complexity, the genius is impressed by simplicity. also i think a game should engage you physically much more than mentally (which d2 also did right), as one of the main purposes of learning is to not actually need to use intelligence to solve problems. brain just doesnt like to be used much. for example i can play chess but am horrible at football. yet i still enjoy football much more than chess

so d2 > all and that will NEVER change, simply because simplicity is needed for good pvp, and pvp is what brings long term value to a game. complex system is the bane of good pvp anywhere

poe2 will hopefully cater to a specific niche, the guys who play dark souls. its a smart move by ggg because it brings two different audiences, poe1 will attract the builders and poe2 will attract the hardcore guys. one thing is for certain though, neither will attract casuals (which d4 does), so i dont see poe or poe2 stealing players from d4

D4 has consistently shown that they are clueless when it comes to making a rewarding end game. I’ll be giving poe2 a shot but if it carries over a lot of the flaws from the first one I won’t be thrilled about that either

Wrong wording, season 9 of D2R alongside 22 nights of terror are going to kill PoE2.

I have never even looked at anything poe until recently but poe2 looks like it could be pretty sweet. I’m gonna give EA a shot here soon.
