Tbh immortal and d3 looked the same, the reason I'm leaning more towards a reskin of immortal is because the world is so empty and dead, from what i saw the background and shit was dead, you and the few monsters were the only shit moving.
The skills looked like complete shit, almost as if they were dumbed down.
This was a seriously rushed looking gameplay trailer they showed off for one of the most anticipated games ever.

I don't mind having 3d graphics in a diablo-like, but jesus do I hate how spell effects/attacks prioritize the visual glitter with no regard for how the player perceives its AoE, boundaries, when an effect ends, etc. In Diablo 1/2 you had 2d sprites on an isometric grid and it was always easy enough to see something like "Heres your firewall, it only exists on these tiles, any pixel perfect movement around it will avoid it'. Now everything is buried on-screen under particle effects, physics objects bouncing around in havok, dirt spray, flowing beams, dust, etc. Look at the spell effects, shit is bouncing all over the place and I can't follow exactly what it hitting where. In D2, you could dodge fireballs being spammed at you from a 200% fcr sorc offscreen, you could WSG through 5 traps and dodge around lightning bolts

Blizzard could also be looking at the bigger picture for their benefits but fails to acknowledge what d2 veterans have to say.
They could be targeting younger kids, kids who never played diablo or diablo 2, or really understand d2 culture. And releasing diablo4 is just an upgraded version of diablo 3.
But they fail to really acknowledge the important advice from d2 veterans have to offer. They focus more on cost vs profit, cool graphics and effects. But what they should really focus on is, "okay, now we reach end game, what do we do?"
In d2, our end game is pvp... this brings people together. A challenge, competition against one and another. We can spend time to grind for items and proper gear setup for our character, then we go duel other people.
In d3, their pvp system is so bad where it's almost non-existent. So they resort to pvm only. They kept making pvm harder and harder and players continue to break that barrier. At some point, every one says this is boring... it's like an endless race. No goal, no purpose, and no limit on levels. (wtf kind of insane level is 5000, 6000, and rumors say it's maxed around level 10,000)..

Honestly the more I talk about diablo 3, my blood boils. So dear god if d4 is anywhere like d3, they should not release the game, because more people will be upset and eventually lose hope in any future diablo games made by blizzard.

I am praying they bring all that back from D2 as well bro... just thinking about the grind to find shakos, sojs, high runes... it just makes me want to burn D3 to the ground..... BURN IT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE GROUND

After I watched both trailers, intro cinematic and gameplay, I thought to myself what does d2jsp think about Diablo 4. My thoughts were: the community is going to say the same old shit and be pessimistic. And behold this thread! Everyone saying it will be crap. It's so predictable that it's funny. However, I do understand why people feel that way. Diablo 3 was such a heavy blow to our faith in blizzard as a company, that we haven't fully recovered after all this time. I feel like this is blizzard's last chance to prove themselves that they can make a great diablo game. Because it's now or never. Diablo 3 did start with enticing trailers and look how that turned out. I'm reserving my judgement for when the game comes out and all the cards are shown. If it resembles too much like d3, then that is a fail. The demon, Lilith, isn't a bad start.

They did acknowledge pvp so that's a good thing, all I want is to be able to conduct my normal scumbag activities and attempt to PK other players.

I've watched multiple demos and watched both panels this morning.

Cons:
Nearly all skills have a fat CD = super annoying. I want to spam fucking blizzard, tornado, or leap attack.
Pretty much same garbage skills as D3
Items look equally as garbage as they did in D3, except now they're putting a fat emphasis on "legendaries".
Still no stats to spec into.
Mounts seem dumb as hell. Only need for a mount would be in a huge, empty area - get rid of both.
Non-linear quest (wtf? no acts? skip straight to boss?)

Pros:
Glad they added "ranks" to skills, and I don't mind the talent tree idea (assuming it's good).
Supposedly able to trade and pvp
Runes and runewords - not sure how good these will be


I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff, but those are the key take aways.
No idea about MFing or end-game content. No replayability = fuck this game just like D3.

Unless they highlight some very important things or fix some of my cons above, I wouldn't recommend preordering.

sort of. i can tell just by the movement and animations its going to be closer to diablo 3 type of game in that regard. i doubt theres gonna be much faster run walk in this game either maybe some abilities that boost ur speed on cool down. among non d2 fans, d2 pvp is considered "bad" for some reason. im sure blizz isnt gonna try and recreate d2 pvp because they probably dont think its good in the first place. probably because most peoples d2 pvp experience is being an ik barb raped by an actual pvp char.

art style looks a lot better hten diablo 3 and i respect what they are doing with it. however in my opinion it does sort of just look like a generic 3d dark game and not unique like d1 and d2. yea i know some d3 fans gonna be like but they made it dark u still complain? well just saying it doesnt look unique and great like d1 and d2 but i respect it. overall i respect what blizzards trying to do with d4 instead of trying to make their cartoon version, they really trying to put a decent game out.

but i doubt many d2jspers will be happy with it

also guys keep in mind theres quite a few d1 fans that were not happy hot it went from horror type game to action game. d1 to d2 is so different but they both good. d4 is gonna be so different from d2 but hope it can still be good. d3 is just a full blown mockery cartoon its shit
