Surprised to hear that from you, and good point. For some reason people constantly avoid smart loot theme as if it doesn't exist. But it actually defines the game.
Why are you surprised to hear that from me. I talk against Smart Loot for more than 12 years now, since the first time Blizz announced this for D3.
It isn't really great to find exactly what you need when the game basically gave it to you because you are a certain class.
It isnt randomized anymore. I mean, loot is randomized inside of a certain heavily, HEAVILY prioritised pool of items. Its just not the same. Farm characters arent a thjng anymore cause they cant farm. They took away a whole branch of potential builds. They should remember it and revive it.
Same problem with transmogs and base items. I think taking away the identity of items in a certain way is one of the most problematic things in D3 and D4. Remember when you cared about the base item and knew the names of all the base items? Affixes, Suffixes, aspects and enchantments would be nothing without the base they are attached to.
People in D2 loved Shako, but it was a green condom. And I am happy it was. Its part of the items identity. You couldnt transmog it into a horned, fiery cast iron monstrosity, because it was Harlequin Crest, a Shako, a fuckin leather cap, you know? I want that kind of personal relationship with items back, although I know it sounds super stupid.
