It is impossible to wager on this as Blizzard does not share their user numbers.
It make sense to reduce transparency if you have much to hide.

As for the only metric available are Twitch viewers and Google trends.
The known website Activeplayer pulls their data out of Steam and so, is invalid since D4 never released on Steam.

Following this, if you decide to look at Twitch metrics, as of today, with a generous 3.6k viewers, 80% of those viewers are from three content creators while the remaining 20% is spread across the others. This is a graphic example that people who plays AND people who don't play the game lost interest for it.

The only thing that will ever make me buy this game is if they overhaul the dogshit itemization system that they copied from d3.
