They will refund it back because they got caught and they want to avoid getting sued.

Just an OG Diablo enjoyer saddened by where the game has gone. Final straw for me today was Blizzard confirming that my battle pass token from the Ultimate Edition would not be refunded.
First day of S1 I hopped on the game to give it a try despite hearing a lot of things I didn’t like about the new patch. Server was a bit laggy here and there but was very playable for softcore, I opened my map to look around at what waypoints I had and noticed the seasonal tab. L1’d over to it (console player), it took a second to swap over and when it did my battlepass was instantly used.
Immediately opened a ticket and explained the situation and requested my token be refunded as I did not intend to use it on S1. Had high hopes that maybe the game design would feel more like Diablo in a year or two if I even remember to check back on it, and maybe would have used it on a later season.
Today Blizzard confirmed that I cannot be refunded the token because they cannot actively track the consumption of the token, which please slow down and bear with me here for a second. We as ultimate edition purchasers would be identifiable either by character creation date (early access), or to keep it very simple the transaction history listed on blizzard’s website tied to your account for pc players. Maybe gets a little more difficult for console, but definitely traceable still. Then in game if they have made any seasonal progress, they spent their token right? Like it is actually that simple isn’t it?
This situation really just took the wind out of my sails to even give S1 a chance. I have heard a lot of other people have experienced something similar due to the fact that this purchase has no confirmation button. Fairly certain this is by design. Big sad as I have spent countless hours on the franchise growing up.
