Supposedly people were protesting because of the delay on ladder. It took around 7 months to even add ladder into the game. As the original scores show the game had high scores on both ends (critics and players). D2R also had a huge lack of support and is infested with bots which they swore they'd take steps to deal with properly and have secure servers.

D4 launch was relatively free of issues compared to other problematic triple a releases and the scores are still bad. Compare it to another game that had high critic reviews and the players gave it similar scores. Take a look at tears of the Kingdom. The game actually met player expectations. 96 critic score and 8.6 user score. Sure there's a slight difference, but nothing like the gap between player and critic on D4.

Exactly. D2r had some massive server issues at launch, and most of the modern playerbase couldn't deal with this psychologically and gave it bad scores.

you should see how it is in the programming industry / open source communities. they infiltrate everywhere and get triggered over certain words in a codebase that's been that way for decades, and think it has to do with slaves (master/slave terminology for example). or master bedroom in a house. it's really bad

can't wait for them to start changing boeing's source code on the voice call outs on "retard" when the plane is descending, lol. they prob think it's ableist

D4 barb is a D3 barb put in a new environment.

So in a way it feels like it could be an OK version with some sort of trade and pvp of D3.

Im enjoying the run around pk alot but I have trouble seeing more dedicated pvp being fun.

D2 has aim skill with all ranged attacks, evade skill avoiding them, timing skill with WW vs range and melee, mobility skill with running and teleporting. It's a simple base mechanic of simply aiming/timing attacks and avoiding the opponent.

D4 imo is too chaotic with unstoppable, weirdo 4x skills with cooldown, no real aim with any skill.

Maybe im wrong but don't think so.

Until I get bored or when all the noobs leave the pvp zone I will still play though.

The PK slaying in D4 is seriously fun

Edit: and ofc seeing "whatever I dont care" in the local chat when I just 1 hitted a guy with 22k shards trying to extract with my hota.
