titan quest is a clean 10/10, not just for its time, but even now  i mean yeah if you want pvp you will go to d2, but other than that, it has it all. its extremely catchy, unique, and even moddable. sound is cute af and graphics holds out even today imo. the same studio recently made a game called grim dawn, which although at least 9/10 in my book, doesnt exactly manage to capture the atmosphere tq did, and thats what matters the most to me

the fact that im eastern european and everything on my computer (including the computer itself) is bootleg, and even i have an actual legal copy of tq (more than one i might add) should tell you enough ^_^

actually i should replay titan quest  ..

Couldn't agree more. Really, the game only misses out on the online experience. Sure, you can play online with others and even trade items with players, but the game doesn't have ladders/seasons or a competitive scene like D2 has. That's why it's a type of game that is perfect to go back to from time to time. I haven't played it for about 2 years now, and there's a whole new expansion with a new act (it has 7 acts now) and a ton of patches that came out in that period, with a lot of new endgame content and challenges. If THQ keeps updating the game in the future, who knows? Maybe even PvP might be a thing one day. Or maybe we can get Titan Quest 2 at some point... if it's made by the same team that worked on the expansion, the future of this game is in good hands.

yeee, last time i played the final boss was hades...so i guess a lot has been added since then  !

its kinda sad and ironic that the tq creators made a perfect game, and the only thing they failed in, was the business model :( if that game had seasons like poe or d4..holy shit

It could have been a better game if it didn't make the same mistakes as Diablo 3. You might say, "What the hell are you talking about? D4 tried to improve or change on a lot of the aspects that were heavily criticized in D3". Sure, it did, and now we have four Diablo games (not counting the mobile abomination) that look like completely different games.

It's amazing how Blizzard doubled down on the terrible D3 concept.
When I heard that they were making D4; I thought "Hey, maybe they'll make a great game this time around".
I looked at the gameplay trailers and said "This is D3 Part II". Immediately; my bag of hope deflated for the Diablo franchise.
I still played the game and tried to see what these Blizzard heads are seeing, and I just experienced a low effort and soulless game.
These people don't know what fun is; they don't get it; they don't understand Diablo.

What will happen now, when Path of Exile 2 comes out, it will take over the ARPG scene. Blizzard made the best possible gift Grinding Gear Games could have hoped for, and i have a suspicion they could have release PoE2 already, but they decided to wait for Blizzard to release D3, because they knew the game will be criticized... and by that i don't mean "to fail", i know D4 is making a lot of sales and money. The point is, when the hype for it dies, which already seems to be the case, everyone will be looking for that PoE2 release.

I'm not sold on Path of Exile. I didn't like the first game with that top-down camera angle, and the overly complex systems.

But the trailer with that Monk looking character does spark some interest. Yet, the creators did mention that Path of Exile 1 will be rolled into POE2; so to me it's a remake + an expansion of POE I; so that overly complex skill system is there to stay and become even more stacked. In my opinion; listening to a lead creator speak; I didn't feel good about what he was saying; but that's just an initial thought in my mind.

I've read that POE does take great influence from Titan Quest...

Meanwhile, i'll be going back to Titan Quest, which is the best and most underrated ARPG ever made. People have been waiting for that next game that can hold up to D2, not realizing that it already exists for 17 years. Or in the words of this Greek legend:

I've always liked Titan Quest. I played the first game when no one knew about it and completed the whole campaign, wanting more. It was interesting.
The skills and builds in that game were fun. I liked that ability to grow into a mini giant. That was sick.
The only thing that bothered me was the lack of an online component. I wanted to share that great game with other people.

It's definitely more interesting and better than D4.

Yeah, i saw a lecture on youtube from the founder of Grinding Gear Games, where he mentions being a fan of Titan Quest back in the day. He even thought, it will be the game to replace Diablo 2 in his list, but then he got disappointed by it not having random/procedural generated world and dungeons... which in my opinion, is such a minor thing when everything else is randomized, and you have a beautiful handcrafted world. But that's just me.
I'm not big in PoE so i can't speak about the stuff that is influenced by TQ. I can think of one... a lot of people think that the mechanic of reserving a portion of your mana pool while a passive skill or aura is activated, originates from PoE, but TQ did it first 7 years before PoE. But that is nothing in comparison of how much PoE rips off elements from Diablo 2.

i dont blame titan quest for not having randomized levels cause its kinda based on myths and there are actual locations that cant really be randomized :( and yeah tq i think invented skills that reserve mana (sustained skills i think they are called there)

They aren’t paying $26 for a chicken sandwich so it’s safe to say they’re making a good choice
