I don't mind having 3d graphics in a diablo-like, but jesus do I hate how spell effects/attacks prioritize the visual glitter with no regard for how the player perceives its AoE, boundaries, when an effect ends, etc. In Diablo 1/2 you had 2d sprites on an isometric grid and it was always easy enough to see something like "Heres your firewall, it only exists on these tiles, any pixel perfect movement around it will avoid it'. Now everything is buried on-screen under particle effects, physics objects bouncing around in havok, dirt spray, flowing beams, dust, etc. Look at the spell effects, shit is bouncing all over the place and I can't follow exactly what it hitting where. In D2, you could dodge fireballs being spammed at you from a 200% fcr sorc offscreen, you could WSG through 5 traps and dodge around lightning bolts
I can't see shit here, its just D3 again
THIS! A clear gameplay explanation on the gameplay difference between Diablo II and Diablo III for why DII players did not like DIII's gameplay.Quote (Hecht55 @ Nov 3 2019 07:48am)
Will check out refund policy, maybe I can play through story and return.
Missed my chance to do that with D3, still regret not getting that money back.
