This is a very nice post,i believe that in d2 there were certain rules with affixes and prefixes and how they apply on each item type.
Even though the item types were less we could still make our calculations and see what is best for our builds so we could combine
Set items with runewords and/or uniques/rares/crafts this makes the item organisation in d2 way more balanced because everything had its value.
The problem with d3 i think is that there are so many items without any specific rule and you get lost very easy also the fact that they say that there will be a certain
item type that will have the most value in the game (idk how it is going to be called in the end Mythical,Super Mythical,Godly Legendary or whatever) takes away
the value from all the other item types.
I sure believe that the item types should be more balanced in order for grinding or mf to be more interesting.
