I played bulwark. Finding the staff was massive dopamine and finding a Shako for my bulwark would be more.
You. Missing my point?
I find rings and amulets on d4 that were more exciting than anything I've found in d2.
Many years ago I found a fools axe with eth rep... still didn't compare some of this stuff I found in d4.
What I mean is that you don't need those items to continue your progression in Diablo 4. It was proven by players accomplishments that end game content can be beaten without those Uber uniques ingame making them irrelevant.
The difference is that in Diablo 2, if you wish to push your content you had to get those items, making those valuable and in demand hence why the hype behind certain items.
As it stand still, Tempest Roar will provide more dopamine on drop than a Shako because Tempest would be necessary for a specific build to progress further in the game. If you were to drop Shako from farming those 5 bosses, it would be indicator that you reached the end of the content and it is time to log out.
Also, I don't find anything exciting about finding a ring, amulet or weapon in D4 that has 3/4 stats knowing i'm gonna have to farm a ridiculous amount of gold to "MAYBE" get something good if i'm lucky in the gold sink feature.
In Diablo 2, your item is either trash or good, and when it's good you get excited. There is no bullshit about trying to cook its stats to make it playable.
I think that is one of the main reason why people still compare itemization with Diablo 2 as of today.
When you drop a Ber rune in D2, it means much more than just making Enigma or a runeword. It means you can use this to potentially acquire the item you were missing in your build that RNG never blessed you with. There isn't anything comparable to this in Diablo 4.
