They didn't try to. They just overlooked that armor was simply reducing elemental dmg on release and now they are fixing it.

It's awesome. People crying they will have to switch out gear depending on dungeon/ boss farming... I like it

They went back to additive resistances with a 70% cap, 85% max instead of reverse multiplicative. D2R has additive 75% cap. 95% max
