Today you have a few decent ones and I'd say a migration as a whole from the MMO genre. Boomers perhaps like us still want to work twords something but the newer generation of gamers appear to want much quicker satisfaction with short rounds that reward you. Like battle royal style games. That does not lend itself well to MMOs in general.

If it's true about swapping to f2p that just means their projection for earnings is higher with a free to play model. This could all just be made up rumors though. I do believe subscription type services are steadily falling as inflation rises at a rapid pace.

Which mmo is been bigger for the last 10 years? Ff14 digging deeper just caught up in the past two years or so, but what's been bigger for the last 10?

It's a legit question because I used to enjoy mmos quite a bit but nothing ever compared to WoWs player base. Maybe some Chinese one not on the western market I'm not aware of?

if microsoft want to take blizzard dead ip like starcraft and warcraft rts and distributed it to other microsoft studio I'm all for it, they dont have any idea how to developed rts any more. wow is dead mainly because they ran out of material/lore they rip out of warcraft 3. there for warcraft 4 need to be made as alternative story to wow to continue arthas story, they might able to salvage warcraft as an ip. wow destroy everything warcraft, its impossible to build another game with the current story. just axe the entire wow story out from the main line and start where warcraft 3 left off with a different studio u might get some fan backs.

not sure if i believe the mmo genre being dead. my friend's dad who just retired has been playing it for years, and even got his son on it when he was 9.. they've been playing ever since. all his ex-co-workers/friends/etc. those servers are insanely active. also a lot of gamers don't mind paying a monthly sub if they know their money is going to a good game and company

regarding the video, still have to watch it at work rn

I don't think anyone's particularly hyped about another blizz release after all the latest disasters. They haven't been great at managing their ips for quite some time. I share the same thoughts that perhaps microsoft should just give them to other studios like what happened with Halo. 343 was releasing sequels that were constantly flopping and eventually had their toy taken away. Some of these franchises may never recover due to mismanagement.

That reminds me I hope my blizz balance turn into microsoft store dollars or something because there isn't anything I see worth purchasing. Would rather have a gamepass subscription than blizzard products.
