I like and play both games. They are just simply from different worlds. The pace, the gameplay, the level of detail. D4 is my fix during weekdays when I can play here and there between work and family. BG3 is more for those nights when the wife and kids fall asleep around 9 pm and I can game at least 2 hours. Even then in BG3 not much will happen in a session of 2 hours. 2 hours in D4 you get a few levels, upgrades, roflstomped in pvp by necro and rogues and still 1 hour free to do something else.

Imo both are worth the price tag. D4 has a decent amount of content which can keep you busy for a while. I like the gameplay thus I still enjoy most characters etc. Some of the systems in the game are really bad but as we push through with feedback better times will come. Probably with the first expansion game will be better.

BG3 is huge and amazingly done. The level of detail this game was built on... lovely. I played religiously the other BGs at their time as well as when remastered versions came out (not the best out there but kept the games close to originals) . If you like the genre it s a must buy. Generally speaking not many people enjoy such detailed and slow games.

My IRL friends stayed mostly with D4 and Dark & Darker. None of them really have the patience to go through the BG3 slow pace. Only 2 of us out of 8 are playing BG3. And all these guys where extreme fans of BG when we were kids. So yeah it depwnds what s your style nowadays. I play both as much as I can.

i refuse to play bg3 due to esg woke bullshit, but objectively the game is very good. i expect player count to drop a lot because most people arent into turn based things and are just giving it a shot because they heard its a good game (it is, but its niche as fuck)

d4 is just boring idk what to say

Hear only good stuff about BG3 but it‘s not my type of game so won’t bother
D4 is my type of game but it’s dogshit, also only hear negative things about it no matter if casual or nolifer

So yes bg3>d4 think there’s no doubt

Poe next season in 5 days, at least that’s something to look forward to in arpg universe (even without meta shift and pretty small patch notes)

Yup I hear ya. I've always played a ranged/assassin type class in most RPGs but Rogue was super boring this time. Rolled a Druid this season and it's still fun but for how long? Not a whole lot of content in D4 once you hit end-game.

Endgame content is pvp or swapping builds to kill the same shit slightly faster...or find out it's slightly slower after mass amounts of gold spent

Have 0 friends playing D4 that I actually interact with, seems like everyone including myself just solos the game. I have a group of IRL friends playing BG3. They're telling me that game slaps. What's the verdict for those of you that have already played both. Give me your thoughts I'd like to know if I should buy this game or keep playing D4.

I think you would like it. They made DnD accessible to any newbies.
I just finished my first playthrough and I had a blast.
Do yourself a favor and take a break of D4, it's just mind-numbing.

really a good game but its all about the story and interaction with other characters. i was looking for a game to play since i got bored early with d4 and bg3 delivers.. already got 100h on it.

Yesterday I decided to quit D4 for this season.

Not into turn-based games other than AQ/Battleon back in the days. But BG3 looks very enticing. Looks like the perfect game to chill on the couch with Fiancee and pets with ^_^
The thing is that I already got a few games in queue: Cyberpunk 2077, Darksiders Genesis, Doom Eternal and The Outer Worlds.

Interested in hearing your final discission.

tangential because i never played bg3, but i used to be hooked on baldur's gate when i was a kid. when i got older, the turn based games became less and less appealing. not sure why that is

This is highly relatable. I'm trying to pick ONE though for a reason, I can only really enjoy one RPG at a time because I like to play other games like nba 2k which is dropping in a month or so. Great feedback though thank you for the input

I remember playing my first BG on PS2, can't remember which title it was but it had a Gorgan on the cover. I don't recall that being turn based but that was a long time ago. The only turn based games I remember playing as a kid was like Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced on GBA (i loved this game) and I think the Golden Sun series was turn based? Can't remember i'm getting old.
