Can't really compare an RPG with an ARPG IMO.

Baldur's Gate 3 does however look amazing and I can't wait to play it!

Bg3 will be the better game for sure especially if you were intending to play both games solo.

However they are completely different genres

I spent more time on the early access of BG3 than the full release* of D4

It's quite a bit different than the older baldurs gate games, I think the writing is generally pretty solid, and the mechanics are super fun to play around with, I reloaded a lot of saves to try things in different ways and it has a really satisfying variety of options

Its pretty mod friendly as well and there is already a group of people creating and updating high quality mods regularly

My biggest criticisms are that dialogue is played out in these interactive cutscenes that are voice acted and animated which I think probably diverted a lot of time from more interesting stuff for something that doesn't look great. It's not horrible just kinda lame IMO, some people enjoy it so it's subjective.

Also not a huge fan of the art style, just all looks a little too clean and polished, the visual part of character creation feels a bit bland as well.

Diablo 2 is a masterpiece of game engineering that will be talked and replicated for the next 100+ years. Be very happy that you were here to witness this event in its inceptions.

The only thing blizzard had to do is literally take the backend and keep expanding it with more game mechanics and more acts just like they did with WOW.

Instead they had the braindead idea to scrap everything and build from scratch.
