Ironically the game has the largest initial sales of the franchise with little to no arpg experience. Shows how people are willing to just prepurchase a title because of a name. Of course the same thing happened with Diablo 3. It soared to new sales heights because of the long awaited anticipation of another Diablo. With D4 I think people were hoping it could have been a new experience though and not just a recycled D3.

I can’t understand how triple a game devs can be this incompetent. It has to be some sort of ploy to get raises or something. “Pay us or we take it out on your game”

i work in the programming industry. hiring managers at those types of companies look for diversity hires and people who studied algorithms just the same way as remembering a certain proverb in english. they don't look for actual experience or devs who have a passion. it's all a numbers a game with a hint of favoritism

that's why it all stems from the top down (Rod -> devs). the devs are more than capable skill wise, but if leadership and core values can't flourish from the top down to them, nothing will. when your game producer says "How does deleting all their progress and making them start at the same time as everyone else give them an unfair advantage?" speaks volumes
