The way I see it blizzard needs to bring a new class at least every 6 months and here is why.

My playing experience:
My first character was a barb and I leveled him to 100. Because everything is mid in this game like I expected, from boring gear, tedious leveling, crafting or their lack of, boring dungeons, non existent end game. Weird uniques that feels like you’re eating something with no taste e.g. 100000 steps for barb, seriously, unique boots with no movement speed that just give you resource only after you attack with 3 different weapons, now compare these boots to WAR TRAVELERS…I rest my case. Also thinking that putting some so called Uber uniques in the loot table will create end game, so out of touch are these devs?
From my experience I came to this very certain conclusion that even if I play this game in the future there will be no chance of me making another barb, not in s1, s3, or s44, there is just no way, barb crossed out.
Season 1 it will be a sorc and once I’m done the sorc will be crossed out…not even sure I’ll have patience to endure the rest of the classes and its torturous leveling experience.

This is why blizzard must work extra hours to bring those lackluster classes with lackluster skills periodically..

When d2 was at its peak you could’ve made practically every class in 1 season, it was never boring.
D4 needs a Peter Hu to do what he did to lod, but wait d4 structure is so bad it will need beyond a miracle to save it. Because to restructure this whole game means to scrap it.
Who knows though, miracles do happen occasionally, even more frequently than finding an Uber unique, but in the case of diablo 4 it will be easier to find an Uber unique than to conjure a miracle to save it.

sadly, the miracle with d4 already happened - it had a shit dev team composed of diversity hires and they somehow managed to make an average game, which is already an overachievement but yeah...nothing in the game holds attention, and in this day and age, first impression is sometimes all you get improvements can be done, but they need to be done fast, otherwise the game will last shorter than a chinese controller on a wings of redemption stream

You played the game around 100 hours or way more. You paid Whatever it was for it. Seems like Blizzard did a good job.

Compare D4 to D2 classic. They can improve D4 to your standards in time. It will be ok.


Where is the pally? They copied everything from D2-D3. I'm sure they are going to add the pally at some point.

Whether they did a good job or not is relative to what you’re expecting from an arpg. The cinematics were nice for sure but for games like diablo there must be a hook, we don’t expect it to be a one shot and out game. It is an always online multiplayer game, in fact it’s safe to say d4 is an mmo by now, therefore, there needs to be a proper endgame and feel rewarding at the same time and it neither has an endgame nor does it feels rewarding. I think they need to work on how to make those two things actually happen.

I have a feeling the blood knight from immortal will make its appearence in d4 before a Paladin will.

this may not be an issue if the seasonal malignant hearts open up the possibility of new barb builds. but, again, this magnifies the bigger issue of the cost and hassle of respecing. i like the end game and ive only played 1 class so far in preseaon. i stopped playing about a week ago because i exhausted my gold reserves respecing to play the necro a new way for the 3rd or 4th time and cant be bothered to farm gold to try out something else with season 1 so close around the corner.

the best way to counter act the repetitive nature of ARPG's is to give you different ways to experience the repetition. the current system doesnt feel like they're trying to incentivize that though. basically the only thing that diablo 3 got right.

Why do people always say we should compare D4 to D2 classic? They had the entirety of D1, D2, LoD and D3 to research and build off of for D4. Saying it compares to a 23 year old game and is worse than a 22 year old game isn’t exactly a good defence. Why should anyone pay $100+ so they can hopefully buy an expansion later that might make the game okay?

not an invalid statement, but sequel amnesia is a very real thing in the gaming industry. especially when it comes to live service games.

they purposefully leave out things that are mot likely completed, tested, and ready to go, but hold off on release so they have canned 'content' ready to go so they can work on things 6 months in advance.

its a pretty shitty business model for the end user, but thats the reality of the situation.

They don’t need a new class, they need more viable builds for their current classes
