I've played wow, d2, rs etc lots of MMOrpgs, how does this stack up? I love Star Wars but don't like spending money if avoidable LOL

How good is this game and what does it compare to?

Combat is like wow, as is the theme-park quest hub to quest hub leveling. Reaching max level also goes pretty quick. If you played a lot you could probably get a character to max level in a week. The storylines for the levels and the flashpoints (instances) are also very well done. PvP has mixed reviews, but I think the war zones (battle grounds) are pretty enjoyable. Raiding is ok as well. There are a fair amount of bugs still being worked out, but improvements are being made. Populations are skewed towards the Empire side.

If buying the game means eating cup'o'noodles for a month, you may not want to get it. But if you've got 50 bucks to go get it, I'd say its worth it.

The good:

Decent enough interface, tons of spoken dialogue (in quests and group instances alike), not quite as grindy as WoW. Gathering and crafting with the crew skills system is a nice spin and unintrusive as you're making your way through worlds. Flashpoints (instances) can get pretty hilarious since you have teammates playing Rocky Horror with some of the admittedly horrendous writing. Some of the dialogue is, however, quite good and the instances themselves are mostly enjoyable. It is pretty much World of Warcraft with lightsabers and less content.

The bad:

You can blow through most of the content for your main's class in a solid week if you want. No joke. Diversity of itemization is non-existent. If you don't get into your character's story and are playing to powergame, you're gonna be disappointed and bored. PvP is unbalanced as fuck for a multitude of reasons. Once you get to the endgame you're gonna want to reroll because there's not much of anything there. Gameplay diversity at the class level is non-existent. The talent tree is mostly one big 'fuck you' and only serves to push you into an optimized PvE or PvP role. So, basically, it's exactly like WoW.

Overview:

Try it for a month and see if you dig it. You'll know if it's for you by the time you hit level 30 or so on your main. They have a lot of content slated for the near future and it's not a terrible game, but they could've done a lot more with it (and hopefully will.)

Not sure what the most populated servers are, but most of them seem to have a solid population, you could just sort when you start and pick a popular one. As far as picking of credits (swtor money) for fg, there's a fair amount of people selling credits for like 500 credits : 1fg to 1000 credits : 1fg.

Hmm, Idk if I am sold just yet... Would be nice to jump on early to a game that will be getting better but also don't wanna end up paying tons of cash for a boring game like WoW was...
