I'm just wondering if it's worth getting. I've played WoW off and on since release, but I just don't like playing it as much as I used to.

I really want to try this game out, but I've played Warhammer Online, Aion, and Rift and none of them have compared to WoW in the amount of fun I've had so I feel like I always waste money on new MMO's and they fail pretty fast or I lose interest very quickly. I want to try the game out, but I don't want to burn $50-60 and only play it for 2 weeks.

Looking for people's insight on the game. Try to give me some unbiased points so I can get a good feel for this game. And please don't make this into a WoW versus SWTOR debate.Though I would like to hear comparisons to the systems they use such as PvP and PvE. I'm mostly PvP oriented in the MMORPG's I play though so a brief response on that would be appreciated.

At the current time with the issues the game has you are not really getting a whole lot of a good game.

Give it 2-3 months, at which time it will be a better purchase.


(and by the way, it cannot be avoided, it has stark similarities to world of warcraft.)

pvp is very lacking, like an afterthought for bioware.

this IS NOT because bioware doesnt care or doesnt understand its importance. EA games are douchebags and pushed to have the game released for christmas 2011 even though bioware said it wasnt ready. hence we have 3 pvp instanced "warzones" there is only 1 map for each kind of pvp warzone. there are no lvl brackets for pvp so if ur low lvl and wanna do pvp u get raped by an enemy team that is 8 people lvl 50 in the best gear u can get. u VERY rarely get to play 2 of these most of the time due to imperial vs republic population balance issues on most servers. so u get huttball many many times in a row constantly, day after day after day. which is fine if u like seeing, hearing, doing the same thing about 10,000 times to max ur valor rank (pvp rank)

they are suppose to start improving the pvp system a lot during the next patch, we will see how that goes tho. they already postponed this patch once.

a lot of the flashpoints are bugged so if u have the mission for the flashpoint THEN join a group which they all have the same quest, SOMETIMES it will glitch and not let anybody into the flashpoint, which is just a PvE instance, and u gotta drop the mission and everybody has to go get the mission again. several small bugs like this one. they are slightly annoying but in no way make the game unplayable.

if you are mainly interested in PvE and storyline i say buy the game and you will be very happy.

since you stated that you are mainly interested in pvp and the like i would suggest to either wait until bioware has a chance to "polish" the game and pvp system a bit more or u can buy now and lvl up and deal with a retarded pvp system for a month or 2 while u lvl lol

Every class has a role in PvP, every class has the opportunity to be the best if you know what youre doing. Theres 3 warzone and 1 planet dedicated to WPvP but theyre adding more in upcoming patches. The WPvP planet kinda sucks right now but the patch on the 17th is fixing some of the problems. It also the patch that seperates the 50s from the lower levels which

The pvp is extremely strong for a launch game (Which everyone bashing the pvp forgets) and its only going to get better. End game ops and dungeons are a bit buggy but the next patch is working on it.

Listen to the story though, dont rush through it. Everyone that does loves it and appreciates it if they take the time to pay attention (Which most do)

Do not listen to the forums, avoid them unless you want news because there is nothing of value. Read some reviews, read ones that give it 7/10 and read ones that give it a 9/10. There isnt any valid overwhelmingly negative reivews out yet, and the ones I said will give you 2 diffrent opinions on the same thing without much bias.

yes avoid anything bad about the game at all costs.
including purchasing it.

i love the Story line and the character pergretion, the PvP is ok can be very one sided at times, there still some glitches in the game but all in all its a decent game to check out specially if your a star wars fan

RED: you will want to stay away from SWToR for now definitely. For some time at least.

if you have a friend that plays, see if he'll allow you to try it out before purchasing... =]

Munky, whether you buy it or not, like it or not, doesn't matter to me unless you want to try to force it down other peoples throats, but don't listen to people on these forums to make your opinion, because thats a mistake. Do what I did and read the reviews that are overwhelminly positive, and the ones that only give it a 7/10 and decide for yourself. You wanted an unbiased opinion and all the people who are telling you not to get it are biased against the game as proven by the time they spent in the other thread, just as much as someone would be who tells you to definitely get it
