SWToR looks looks like WoW with lightsabers, which brings me to a question...
Do you think it will last as long as the other star wars mmo?
or the star trek mmo
or the conan mmo
or the lord of the rings mmo

or is it bound to have the same fate as all the other mmo's in the same "i used to be a movie" genre.

Its > WoW imo.

Star Wars has always been different imo. Just the depth of the lore and the way it is put together makes it something greater than just a movie/book/MMO.

This game has a lot of bugs that still need to be worked out and dealt with. HOWEVER, once they polish it a little bit more it will be a great competitor. It has some innovative ideas but its no ground breaker like WoW was.

For the moment, its the best mmo out there. Wow is terrible and broken now, blizzard fucked themselfs over. Wow is dead after release of panda

Wow is not terrible at all. People, like you, are forced to say negative things about it because it's been out for so long. Blizzard has, and will continue to progress the game in a positive manner.
It's not blizzard's fault that people, who play the game more than they should, get bored of their game that has been out since 2004.

In any case, SW seems to be the best COMPETITOR to Wow. It will take at least a year to say if it's "better"

Just look at all the "Wow killers" over the years, those games aren't even worth mentioning now.

Well TOR really isn't based on the movies at all. The ols games and books/comics influenced it a lot more than George Lucas's own work.

And it will defintely last longer than the ones you mentioned. Bioware is one of the best game studios in the world, arguably the best, backed by the largest publisher, and not to mention Star Wars is probably more popular than just about anything else combined is going to be what keeps this up.

i've been playing wow since pre-release. never going back now that i have swtor
